Cervical Cancer – Awareness & Prevention Health Campaign

Cervical cancer is the 2nd most common cancer affecting Malaysian women. It is caused by a common virus called Human Papillomavirus (HPV).

In view of escalating reported cases on cervical cancer, the HR team invited Merck Sharp & Dohme (MSD), a leading global research-driven pharmaceutical company to organise health talks on 28th and 29th July to promote awareness on how to prevent HPV related diseases. Important facts shared during the talks were the life threatening conditions caused by HPV. Dr. Nurul Dina Ong Abdullah from MSD shared that if not detected early and treated, the abnormal cells caused by the HPV infection can become cancerous. Apart from practicing safe sex, regular pap smears and getting a HPV vaccination can help prevent cervical cancer.

70% of the employees who attended the sessions have signed up to get the HPV vaccination, which was offered at a promotional price during the campaign.
