29th March 2009 – GSSCKL Care raised RM10,500 during a 1-week donation drive among GSSC KL staff in
support of “Malaysian Dogs Deserve Better” (MDDB) project. The project was mooted
when it was shockingly discovered that every day, countless cats and dogs are caught
by stray-animal catchers and brought to the local pounds to be exterminated. These
animals were battered and killed cruelly. Videos of the inhumane acts were captured
and screened on TV3 drawing public outrage.
MDDB advocates that when stray cats and dogs are caught on the streets, they must be
rescued and rehomed as opposed to the belief that they should be all be put to sleep.
Besides rescuing animals from local councils, MDDB also works to clean, feed, board,
neuter, vaccinate and provide veterinary treatment for the cats and dogs before finding
them new homes.
GSSC KL’s donation was handed over to MDDB volunteers on Sunday, 29th March 2009
at the NZX Square in Ara Damansara. During the event, rescued cats and dogs were
available for adoption. Several GSSC staff adopted some of the animals, thus giving
them a good home and a better life.
