Other Community Work.

Volunteering their help in community projects are second nature to the staff at Scope International Malaysia. Here are a list of some of the many activities they have been involved in.

On 19 December 2009, 25 staff from the Trade Department in Petaling Jaya visited Rumah Titian Kaseh, a shelter home for underprivileged children and adults. The day started at the office, where staff volunteers gathered to pack breakfast meals for the orphans before they left for the Home located at Taman Titiwangsa.

On 8 November 2009, staff from Wholesale Banking Operations’ Securities Services (SS) team visited the Rumah Limpahan Kasih Orphanage situated in Puchong. Besides donating food, clothes and books, some beds and cupboards for the use of the children were also donated.

On 13 November 2009, the GSSC KL HR Team visited the disabled and underprivileged children at Pusat Penjagaan Kanak Kanak Cacat Taman Megah, Petaling Jaya. The Home shelters about 130 children of all races with various disabilities such as Down’s Syndrome, Autism, Cerebral Palsy and other physically challenged, intellectually disabled and normal underprivileged children from broken families.

KLGSSCare visited Rumah Kasih Sayang, a charity home for orphans, single mothers, poor and disabled children as well as the elderly on 29 August 2009. Prior to the visit, KLGSSCare had collected RM12,000 from GSSC KL staff. The Home was given RM5000 in the form of a cheque for them to purchase much needed double-decker beds, 20 mattresses, 2 large rice cookers and groceries.

In line with its Fish Philosophy, ITSC has organized the ‘Fun Wednesday, Fun Workplace’ programme since June 2009. It is a biweekly activity which promotes the Fish concept of ‘Fun at Work’. Special Attire Day-s were introduced where ITSC staff had to turn up wearing outfits based on themes such as Beach Wear, Winter Wear, Fancy Shoes, Sports Wear, Merdeka Celebration and Hat Day. The best dressed staff win prizes.

Cervical cancer is the 2nd most common cancer affecting Malaysian women. It is caused by a common virus called Human Papillomavirus (HPV).

ITSC organized a Health Awareness Campaign from 11 June – 19 Aug 2009 to promote good health and healthy living among staff. Many activities were organized to help staff learn how to maintain a healthy lifestyle.

In the month of August, KLGSSCare organized a Blood Donation drive for ISCM staff in Petaling Jaya. With the help of the team of nurses and officers from the National Blood Centre, the event saw a very good turnout with as many as 64 staff donors.

on Sunday, 29th March 2009, GSSC KL’s donation was handed over to MDDB volunteers at the NZX Square in Ara Damansara. During the event, rescued cats and dogs were available for adoption. Several GSSC staff adopted some of the animals, thus giving them a good home and a better life.

March 2009, GSSC KL staff recently visited two charity homes : Baitu Saidati Khadijah Orphanage & Home for Poor Children and the Taman Megah Handicapped & Disabled Children’s Home. To raise funds for the first charity home, volunteers from GSSC KL’s Consumer Banking Operations sold breakfast and tea items for a whole week.

March 2009, GSSC Klub’s trip to Mabul Island and Sipadan Island provided a fabulous opportunity for GSSC KL staff to get close to marine life. During the trip, 27 staff were certified as PADI Open Water Divers. The others snorkeled in the clear waters teeming with underwater marine life.
